Missy’s Corner – July 19

Carlo Carretto wrote in “The God Who Comes” these words: “We must assume an attitude of waiting, accepting the fact that we are creatures and not creator…the initiative is God’s…we are only to accept.” Sometimes, we can get it the other way around. While we are indeed creatures, God gifted us with extraordinary intelligence. That gift can be underused or overused; it can make us humble or arrogant;
we can use it for good or for evil. God is the one who created and still creates. All of who we all and what we do is owed to God’s generosity and love for us. Waiting can be frustrating, but the Holy Spirit gives us patience only after we have wrapped our minds around the gifts of God’s love and peace. Patience requires both. The fruit of the Spirit is a mighty profound gift to us from a God who is mighty to save us. He is mighty to give us these cumulative gifts so that we might better reflect His image. As we wait to see what God has in store for the people of Striplin Terrace, may we focus on His love and peace as we move into this new season of ministry.

In His Grasp,

Pastor Missy
