Welcome to Striplin Terrace Methodist Church’s web site.
THE PURPOSE of Striplin Terrace Methodist Church is to make disciples by reaching out through word and deed to all persons with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are a traditional church with traditional values.
The Striplin Terrace Methodist Church located on Miller Road, off of the Warm Springs Highway in Columbus, had its beginning with its first open-air meeting on November 20, 1952 with Rev Leland Moore conducting. The Striplin Terrace Methodist Church came into being through the earnest and prayerful efforts of Rev. Leland Moore and the congregation of the East Highland Methodist church of which he is pastor. Sunday open-air services were held until a tent was secured and Rev. Leland Moore was temporary pastor until the South Georgia Methodist Conference in June appointed Emmett Davis ( a Ministerial student at Emory University) as pastor. The first service held under the tent was conducted by Rev. Bob Padgett of Buena Vista.
The congregation of the Striplin Terrace Methodist Church was organized April 19, 1953 with a total of 59 charter members. On December 13, a Ground Breaking Ceremony was held and the building of the church began. On Easter 1954, open house was held and services were moved from the tent to sanctuary.
Over the years the membership has grown and shrunk with the changing of time but we still soldier on as a tight family. We offer a variety of program for seniors. Come join us and see what God can do at Striplin Terrace Church.
