The ABC’s of a relationship with God.
Admit that our life is not what it should be. Life is hard. We all need help. We all need that relationship with God.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23 NIV
Believe that God”s Son, Jesus Christ, makes it possible for us to have a relationship with God.
16For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
John 3:16,17 NIV
Confess to God the mistakes and sins in our lives. Don”t let pride stand in the way. We all want to be the one in charge. That”s what separates us from God. We want to take His place and do His job.
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:8,9 NIV
Decide to follow Christ as fully as we can. Receiving God”s gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ is the beginning of a journey to become the people God knows we can be. This is not the time for partial commitments or half-measures. Each day we must decide to follow Christ.
23 Then He said to them all: “if anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23 NIV
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 NIV
Express your faith in Christ publicly. Having decided to trust in Christ, we must now walk in that trust.
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:9,10 NIV
