Psalm 89:2- “I will may your faithfulness known with my mouth.” We reveal our faith by the words we say. To be true to our faith, we must say what we believe out loud. Even if we are experiencing a transient crisis of faith, have overwhelming doubts about how to act in a certain situation, saying the words aloud, “I believe” has the power to speak your faith in the midst of doubt, and even unbelief. Speaking those words can bring you to true faith. Your heart will follow your true desires.

But we should be very careful about what we say about our faith. Jesus said in Luke 6:45-“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.” We cannot even joke about unbelief in ourselves because that causes a lack of integrity in our faith and wreaks havoc with our witness. It is hard, but if we find ourselves in conversation with an unbeliever or a nominal Christian, engaging in joking about our faith hurts our witness and introduces damage to our very souls. We should never show even a semblance of disrespect to God. Let’s make sure that we give God glory in everything, especially in what we say.
